Early this month, Nimrah, Nyi and I were asked to man(/woman) the Master of Human Rights and Democratisation table in a donor reception. Four of the six donors I talked to volunteered tales on encounters with Filipina domestic workers - nannies of their grandkids, househelp of friends, strangers gathered on the streets of Hong Kong on weekends.
For some reason, the trite third world truth of limited opportunities is one that has always literally pained my heart. Leaving is always a need more than a want.
